I am still in the process of putting this gate up. I live in an older farm home and unfortunately the top of the steps are not even.

Faulty template included
Instructions OK except that the template for making the holes in the wall did not correspond to the actual distance needed for the holes to fit the gate.

After much research and a purchase of the “First Years Hands Free Gate” that DOES NOT work well for the top of the stairs, I bought this gate and have been very satisfied so far…

This is a very nice gate for those hard to fit uneven walls. I needed a nice looking gate for the top of a staircase that had uneven trim and a post that was uneven as well…

Eyeball Rupture
This indeed is a solid gate. And when locked proves a sturdy barrier.
But there is a top locking “T” piece which sticks out horizontally by a few inches.

We had better luck with pressure mounted (or partial pressure mounted gates.) This one seemed very solid, but the installation was a little complex and we never installed it.
